Why Cursing Can Be a Path to Justice and Healing

ree

Hi, I’m Mocha Gypsy. I’m an intuitive, psychic, and spellcaster devoted to spiritual empowerment and protection. There’s an old truth in the craft that says, “A witch who can’t curse can’t heal.” To me, that saying reflects the full spectrum of my abilities... the power to confront and dismantle dark forces, as well as the grace to bring deep healing afterward. While I no longer focus exclusively on curse work, it remains part of my practice for select clients who truly need it. Today, my work centers on helping people break free from toxic energy, heal deeply, and step into their power with clarity and confidence.

For many people, the word “curse” stirs up fear, judgment, or even mockery. We’re told from childhood that curses are dark, that they add negativity to the world, or that anyone who casts them will be punished by karma or the so-called “threefold law.”

But after years of psychic work, readings, and spellcasting for clients, I have come to a clear understanding: sometimes, cursing is not only justified, it’s necessary.

This article is my perspective on why cursing has a rightful place in the spiritual and magickal world, why so many of my clients come to me for it, and how curse work can actually bring justice, healing, and protection... not just for individuals, but for society as a whole.

The Ancient Roots of Curse Magick

Cursing isn’t some new fad... it has existed for thousands of years across nearly every culture. In ancient Egypt, curse tablets were used to bind enemies or rivals. In Greek and Roman traditions, lead curse tablets (called defixiones) were placed in graves or wells to call on spirits of the dead for vengeance. In African and African-American traditions, Hoodoo and Rootwork included powerful ways of sending back harm or stopping enemies in their tracks.

Even in the Bible, you’ll find what are essentially curses... called “imprecatory prayers”, where prophets and psalmists asked God to bring destruction upon their enemies. And let's not forget, that the very first curses recorded in human history were cast by Yahweh himself upon Adam and Eve (and all of their descendants) in the Garden of Eden!

So, if curse work has been part of spiritual practice for millennia, why do modern people resist it so much? The truth is, society has been conditioned to accept injustice as “normal” while discouraging people from using their spiritual power to fight back. That’s why reclaiming curse magick can be incredibly empowering.

The Misconception: “Why Add Negativity to the World?”

A while back, I was in a Facebook spiritual group where another lightworker asked me a sincere question:

“Why do curses when there’s already so much negativity in the world?”

It’s a fair question and one that many spiritually-minded people struggle with. At first glance, it might make sense: if the world is dark, why not add more light?

But here’s the truth: because the world is already filled with negativity, injustice, and predators, curses become necessary.

We live in a society where people rarely receive true justice. Courts fail victims every day. Criminal systems let abusers walk free, and family courts are infamous for silencing mothers while rewarding those who cause harm. Beyond the legal system, many people are also betrayed closer to home. In dysfunctional families, serious offenses are often swept under the rug... abuse is minimized, secrets are kept, and the victim is pressured to “move on” while the offender faces no consequences. In relationships and friendships alike, exploitive partners and so-called friends often leave trusting souls holding the bag emotionally, financially, or even spiritually... while they walk away unscathed.

The result is a heavy burden: people left carrying the weight of trauma, betrayal, and devastation with no accountability for the ones who inflicted it. This unbalanced cycle doesn’t just break hearts, it creates deep energetic wounds that can keep repeating until they’re finally confronted, healed, and cleared.

Forgiveness works for some, but not for everyone. Due to cultural expectations, many convince themselves they’ve forgiven the person who harmed them but when you listen closely, the pain is still there like it happened yesterday. Since our society sees "not letting things go" as a moral failing, they now have to carry the double burden of quietly dealing with the shame of harboring bitterness along with the emotional scars inflicted on them.

Cursing, for many, is the only path to real closure. It’s a way to energetically balance the scales when conventional systems have failed. Not balancing the scales, one way or another, ironically makes the world a darker place.

Cursing as Protection

Curses aren’t always about vengeance. They can also be a powerful form of self-defense.

If someone is actively harming you... stalking you, smearing you, abusing you, trying to ruin your livelihood, a curse can be the spiritual shield that weakens their attacks.

It’s not about destroying their life completely. Sometimes it’s about humbling them, distracting them, or weakening them enough that they simply can’t continue harming you.

Think of it as a spiritual lock on your door. You’re not running out to stab the intruder, you’re preventing them from entering in the first place.

Why Society Needs Curse Work

One of the hardest truths I’ve learned through my psychic readings is this: Most of the people who deserve curses are narcissists, sociopaths, and psychopaths.

These types of individuals leave a trail of destruction everywhere they go. They move from victim to victim, relationship to relationship, job to job... each time gaining more power, more money, and more influence.

The predators of this world thrive because so few people stand up to them or hold them accountable. By the time you encounter one, they’ve often already hurt many others before you. And unless someone stops them, they’ll hurt many more after you.

Cursing, in this sense, becomes a form of community protection. If someone had cursed the predator who hurt you before they ever crossed your path, how different might your life be?

When you stop a narcissist, a rapist, a financial scammer, or an abuser... you’re not just getting justice for yourself. You’re saving their next potential victim.

Real Client Story: How Curses Help

I’ll share one of my proudest cases from several years ago, without too much detail for privacy.

A young mother came to me because Child Protective Services (CPS) had taken her baby. She had proof that the social worker and prosecutor were falsifying information against her. Anyone who dealt with that system knows the average time to get a child back is six months or longer.

I performed a series of rituals:

Two weeks later, her beautiful baby was back in her arms! That’s the power of curse and binding work. Nobody’s life was destroyed... except the lies and manipulations. Justice was restored.

My Background: Hoodoo, Grimoire Magick, and Angelic Work

My magickal journey began with Hoodoo traditions, but over time I gravitated toward modern grimoire magick. Today, my curse work is often done by petitioning ancient angels... calling on their authority to intervene.

Unlike many who only work with demons for curses, I have primarily worked with angels. Angels are not just about light and comfort, they are also about justice, correction, and righteous retribution. Just like demons, they are capable of destruction, but their approach to carrying out tasks are usually more methodical.

Every curse I do has clear parameters:

  • Who the spell should affect

  • Who it should not touch

  • What outcomes are desired (justice, protection, humbling, loss of power, etc.)

This way, the energy is precise, focused, and just.

Common Questions About My Curse Work

Over time, I’ve been asked many questions about curse magick. Let me address some of the most common ones here:

Do you believe in karma or the threefold law?

No. I don’t. If karma always worked, predators wouldn’t thrive. Abusers wouldn’t die rich, old, and surrounded by family. The threefold law, in my view, was invented to keep good people from using their full power.

The only “blowback” is what you create through guilt. If you know you’re justified, and you act with clear intention, then no punishment comes.

Will you curse anyone I ask?

No. I turn away about 25% of requests. I don’t curse children, pregnant women, or people who haven’t done real harm. I won’t curse your coworker just because they outshine you... I will curse them if they're plotting to get you unjustly fired. Curse work is serious. It’s for justice and protection, not pettiness.

Is cursing about healing or revenge?

Both! Healing comes faster when justice is served. And revenge, when righteous, is not ugly... it’s correction. It’s putting abusers in a weaker position than before so they cannot hurt more people as easily, or at all.

When You Might Consider a Curse

  • You’ve been severely wronged by someone with no chance of justice in the courts.

  • You’re being stalked, harassed, or abused and need protection.

  • You’ve been targeted by a narcissist, sociopath, or psychopath who won’t stop.

  • You want to stop a predator before they hurt others.

If any of these resonate with you, curse work might be the missing piece in your journey.

Why Work With Me

I don’t take curse work lightly. I won’t cast out of pettiness or envy. I won’t accept every request.

But if your situation is real, if your pain is valid, and if justice has failed you, then my work can help restore balance and reclaim your peace.

My curse work is rooted in psychic insight, angelic petition, and deep respect for justice.

Final Thoughts: Would You Do It?

I’ll leave you with this question:

If you could exact revenge or justice on someone who devastated your life and you could get away with it... would you?

For many people, the answer is yes. And that’s why curse magick will always have its place.
